a. Secondary Data Collection of Dairy
– Reviewed the law of livestock production, law of animal health, national livestock production and health policy and related assessment reports.
– Reviewed current dairy sector related data and ongoing activities – identification of priorities, gaps, and strengths.
– Collected secondary data from livestock department of MAIL.
b. Qualities Survey for Dairy Industry in 34 Provinces of Afghanistan.
– Conducted KII’s with dairy processing centers and considered all dairy processing, packaging, delivery, dairy demand at national level and related issues in 34 provinces of Afghanistan, used KOBO software.
– Conducted KII’s with animals’ farms and considered milk production, comment livestock diseases, mobility and mortality percentage, growth and access to animal food and other related issues in 34 provinces of Afghanistan, used KOBO application for data collection.
– Conducted KII’s with CDC, DDA and local government officials for selection of milk collection and chilling centers as well dairy processing centers on district level in all 34 provinces of Afghanistan, used KOBO application for data collection.
– Conducted KII’s with local dairy seller and buyers in all 34 provinces of Afghanistan, used KOBO application for data collection.
– Conducted KII’s with dairy traders at national level in all 34 provinces of Afghanistan, used KBOS application for data collection.
– Analyzed all qualities data and writing reports for different stages.
c. Quantities Survey for Dairy Industry in 34 provinces of Afghanistan.
– Conducted FGD’s with dairy processing centers, livestock farms, local people, CDC and DDA members, dairy related local officials, traders, buyers and sellers, in all 34 provinces of Afghanistan.
– Conducted local consultation meetings with project stakeholders in all 34 provinces of Afghanistan.
– Analyzed all Quantities Data and writing of reports for different stages.
d. Social & Environmental Impact Assessment:
– Conducted household survey to identified local communities level of interest, how they can be involved smoothly in the interventions and availability of lands for program development, restoration and/or sustainable utilization, in all 34 provinces of Afghanistan, used KOBO application for data collection.
– Conducted household survey for vulnerability of project against natural disasters e.g. climate change, drought, flash floods, cold winter, landslides, pest and diseases in all 34 provinces of Afghanistan, used KOBO application for data collection.
– Conducted household survey to assess all relevant components of the project and their approaches whether they are suitable or in compliance with the selected species of goat and sheep for development, in all 34 provinces of Afghanistan, used KOBO application.
e. Technical Survey & Design of Dairy Processing Centers
– Conducted technical survey for selected dairy processing centers, in all provinces of Afghanistan, used D-GPS for engineering data collection.
– Conducted engineering design of dairy processing centers in all 34 provinces of Afghanistan.
